Why am i hitting golf driver shots with a low trajectory?

5

Golfer 2008 asked:

Sometimes on the golf course, i will hit very low drives which dont even go past 200 yards, and my average driver distance is between 240 – 270 yards with a good trajectory. Also, i usually tee the ball very high, and even when i do this, i seem to hit my drives low. What should i do? New driver? Technique?
hmm, you have a point. I currently have a driver with 10.5 degrees of loft, with a swing speed of 95mph estimated. However, i seem to get a higher trajectory with the cobra s91 9.5 degree and more consistency. Any other ideas?

Are you hitting straight? Sounds like you are not hitting down on the ball. Go get a pro lesson they can help best let someone see what your doing. Good luck.

you can a try a different technique; when bring the club head back, bring it back long and low. Also, you might look into a driver with a different degree. Does you three wood do this also? If not, then it is the degree of your driver, it is does, then try starting your back swing with a bit more of a sweeping motion.

Sounds like your hitting the ball low on the face of your driver. That or you could be holding your driver incorrectly having it face slightly foward which would give the effect of less angle on the driver. If your hitting it 240-270 on an average drive though your not doing to bad. Try to get the driver as low to the ground as possible and make sure that you have the base of the driver flat on the ground before you tee off to get your angle right before your swing.

What you might be doing is de-lofting the club when you bring the club through the impact zone. Try leaning back in your swing, this will help you hit up on the ball, rather than hit down on the ball, like you do with your irons. Also, Do not have your hand infront of the club at impact, this will take the loft out of the club as well.

Tee the ball up put further forward in stance and try and catch on up not only will ball travel higher it will so straighter if you follow straight through.
