More Distance, Less Injuries with Swing Trainers

In the practice area at Golfsmith, they have a rack with a flurry of makes and models so that you can grab a club and take a few swings with it to see how it feels.

If you want to know your swing speed, shaft recommendation, etc., then you’ll need to make and appointment with Golftec (they are usually found inside the Golfsmith store and are their own business) for a club fitting. This is where this is done. They do club fittings for irons, drivers, and I believe wedges as well. The session cost me $50 but I believe it’s gone up in price now to $100.

They will measure all of that information and allow you to try a handful of different models and manufacturers and measure the results of each.

After the session, you’ll have a printout showing the results and they will also give you a recommendation as to which club model/manufacturer is going to help your game the most.

I had a fitting for irons at Golftec in February and the result was the Cobra S9II irons. I needed to have the lie angle adjusted by a half degree.

I ended up purchasing them directly from the manufacturer and I’ve been really happy with the results thus far this season.

I have bought and will buy again from both. Beware of Golfsmith and their goal driven sales. The guys there get paid commision on some brands!!! however the equipment they carry is great. In fact some of the best on the market. If you go there, say you are looking to buy a driver, or whatever clubs you need. go ask a fitter and hit them. Take the info from the monitor very intently so you can use it elsewhere. You don’t have to purchase there. All you have to say is Its a little to expensive today, or It’s not quite right for the $. If you do like the club it is okay to say this so you can think on your investment. Neverjust buy because you can. Buy what you want when you want. and to find this you will have to hit dozens of clubs.
